The Athens Eridanus hotel takes its name from the ancient river which runs beneath Athens from its source at Lycabettus Hill all the way to Kerameikos, whose archaeological site is located across the street from the hotel. A former two-story home and as with the rest of the area, built on the site of a giant ancient cemetery, the Eridanus hotel has been transformed into a fabulous five-star hotel with views of the city and an abundance of art inside, as befitting to a hotel in an area overflowing with it.

With its inaugural guests arriving in 2004, the Eridanus hotel is a very new property and wears its Luxury Art Hotel tag with pride. Seemingly on every wall and ceiling and in every room, valuable, original works of art hang, many of which are by Greek artists, one of whom has such close ties to the hotel he has his home beside it. The works on the ceilings are pieces which adorned the original building and have been fully restored to compliment the hotel today, while other friezes and ornamentation have been framed and can be found dotted around the building.

This appreciation of the finer things in life overflows into the rooms, where each piece of quality furniture has been carefully selected. Huge mirrors give the already large rooms the feel of even more space, leather desks add class to many rooms, where others have solid crystal glass ones giving a stylish, modern ambience instead. The large beds are draped in fine linen and are supremely comfortable, while the high ceilings found throughout the building create a wonderful sense of openness and space. Even the bathrooms with their rare green imported marble surfaces and Hermes products are truly magnificent.
