But to concentrate on just the rooms at the Fresh Hotel is to do it an injustice, as it does have some rather unique innovations including a bar so unusual, you would never expect to find something like it in the frequently sweltering city of Athens. White and pink together in a room may sound like Barbie's dream, but in the Magenta Restaurant it works perfectly with the rest of the minimalist design – just beware if you have a hangover, as this is the breakfast room too! The Air Lounge is found on the ninth floor and offers birds-eye, panoramic views of the city and a variety of cocktails and snacks.

So, you want to hear about the unusual bar, right? We'll keep it simple. The Imperia Ice Bar has been styled from 30 tons of ice, kept at a cool -5 degrees, requires you to be wrapped up in a supplied Columbia Sportswear jacket and you're only allowed to party in there for half an hour at a time before retiring to the anti-chill out room to warm up. See, we told you it was unusual! It's also an excellent bar with awesome music from the resident DJ's. Try it and do something out of the ordinary!

For once, the Fresh hotel in Athens is a modern, minimalist hotel which rather than appearing to try too hard to maintain its cool, seemingly does so effortlessly. Attentive staff will assist you no matter the time of day or how busy they are (and believe us, this is a popular hotel) and the rooms are always a haven after a days sight-seeing, their often diminutive size barely even registering. They say the truly cool don't even try to be so, and the Fresh Hotel is proof of this.
