Platis Gialos should be seen as one of the quieter beaches of Mykonos, not to the point of being devoid of life, just where life's pace is perhaps more suited to the beautiful bay. The sandy beach is lined with sun loungers and umbrellas while the promenade behind has many restaurants to choose from while at the far end, several bars await for a late night drink. The water is clear and inviting and it should come as no surprise Platis Gialos is one of the better scuba locations on Mykonos.

If you have a car or quad bike, Mykonos Town is 10 minutes away or if you have no need for your own transportation, a little bus stop is nearby which makes regular journey's to the bustle of Hora. A short distance from the beach itself you'll find the Mykonos Palladium Hotel, a beautiful whitewashed building which although no set on the seafront, still offers wonderful views. However, its not the views or the building style which makes the Palladium hotel so highly rated; it's the gorgeous accommodation.

There are 40 rooms in total, all separated into a variety of room types from the Deluxe Pool of Sea View to the splendor of the Honeymoon Suite. The choice is a little too large, but we have some recommendations for you, however it must be stressed that whichever room you decide upon here, you'll be rewarded with plush furnishings, soothing colour schemes and most of the time, a wonderful view. However, if you wish to make the most of your stay at the Mykonos Palladium hotel, we suggest either the Superior Double with the private pool or the Junior Suite with the Jacuzzi outside. Both of these offer such a luxurious living space there will be times you simply won't want to leave! Of course, the Palladium hotel is also justifiably proud of the stunning Honeymoon Suite too, with its unusually classic decor.

The Palladium hotel has both a pool and a lobby bar, the latter being decorated in the same classic traditional style the Honeymoon Suite shares, while meals are served in the stylish and romantic La Veranda restaurant, where one can enjoy the fresh Mediterranean cuisine with a beautiful Aegean Sea view. During the day, if the beaches and town do not appeal, the Palladium's attractive pool certainly will, as perhaps will the Jacuzzi, gym or sauna. Guests can relax in the Venus Massage and Beauty Parlour where a variety of treatments await.

What made the Mykoons Palladium Hotel really stand out, aside from the very special design and decor, was the care and attention given to the guests. It may be a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, but the staff are very flexible in their approach, attending to guests in the way they want to be instead of choosing a particular service style and sticking to it. There is also a Guest Relations Officer on hand who will not only assist with any special requests, but will happily give advice on what do and where to go – a key position which many other hotels would do well to adopt.
